  • Criteria for Judging

As judges, one should be decisive, impartial, and consistent. It is suggested that judges work with fellow judges in a spirit of harmony and cooperation and score each participant honestly in every segment of competition. You must maintain confidentiality and a strong sense of fairness because all finalists deserve your undivided attention and encouragement.

    D.)

    Social Awareness and Community Involvement

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25%

The Miss Cebu 2012 Pageant requires each contestant to adopt a cause. This should stem from an ideal that is important to her or a cause that she supports. Each finalist should select an area of interest to herself and to our community. It should be an issue that has and continues to make a difference in people's lives. Although the finalists will most likely have experience on a certain level, she should research, understand, and have thought about her platform and its impact on the community on the basis of her present capacity and capabilities.

NOTE: The judges' decision will comprise 75% of the total final score for each candidate. The candidates will be pre-judged by the members of the Cebu City Tourism Commission (CCTC) on their attendance, punctuality, participation, attitude, and spirit of cooperation as observed during the two months preparation prior to the Pageant Night. These will make-up 25% of the total score and this rating will be incorporated into the TOTAL and FINAL evaluation of the candidates.

    Judging Points

    A.)

    The One-on-One Interview

(Finalists' projection of personality attributes and communication skills up close)

The seven (7) minute interview is designed to give the judges an opportunity to learn as much as possible about the contestant – her qualities and attributes to be Miss Cebu 2012, her commitment to advance herself as a role model, her ability to express and distinguish her beliefs, her ability to express herself and her ability to fulfill the job responsibilities of Miss Cebu 2012.

The judges will look for overall "first impression," sense of accomplishments and a confident, commanding presence. They will evaluate each contestant's personality, personal appearance and attractiveness. They will look for validated opinions and responses as well as communication competencies.

Questions may deal with the contestant's "platform" issue, community service, world affairs, ambitions and goals, and other personal interests as presented on their fact sheet, their educational and career goals, their opinions on current events and social issues, and their interests, hobbies and extracurricular activities. Questions should focus on her ability to articulate her personality, her opinions, and her aspirations. They should be designed to produce high-value information and allow her to display the depth of her convictions and expanse of her knowledge. This phase of competition is also an opportunity for the contestant to introduce a platform of community service--a chosen issue of importance to herself and to society—one in which she shows a true passion. This will acknowledge her commitment to realizing her potential as role model, leader, and spokesperson.

    B.)

    Pageant Night

(Finalists' projection of personality and impact "across the footlights")

Judging on pageant night is that phase of the competition designed to enable the contestant to project both her personality and beauty "across the footlights". The contestant's total look and overall impact is considered as she goes through the various phases of the competition on stage, in front of an audience. The judges will again look for an overall "first impression," sense of confidence, stage presence and personality. Carriage and grace, beauty and sense of attractiveness will also be considered. What is put to the test here is the finalists' ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, perform under pressure, put others at ease in "tough" situations and to maintain dignity, poise and composure in public situations.

    Guidelines for Judging

1.) Each judge will be given a folio containing photographs (1 close-up and 1 full-shot) of each of the twelve finalists as well as personal information reprinted from the finalists' application forms. Each judge will also be given a folder with a package of score sheets, which they will use to score the finalists based on the criteria for judging determined by the Cebu City Tourism Commission. Winners of the following awards will be chosen by the Board of Judges:

    1. Best in Evening Gown-Miss Cathay Pacific Glamour Girl – selected by the judges immediately after the finalists parade down the ramp in evening gowns

Scoring is based on overall first impression, sense of confidence, personality and stage presence, walk and posture, appropriateness of attire and sense of attractiveness
    1. The Five Finalists
Miss Cebu 2012 and her Court

2.) Scoring will use a ranking system. Scores should be marked only within the range of 1-10. Raw scores should also not include decimal points.

3.) For the selection of the Five Finalists the judges will score each finalist based on the criteria below:

    1. Poise, Personality and Total Impact . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 30 %
    2. Beauty of Face and Figure . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 15 %
    3. Communication Skills . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 30 %
    4. Social Awareness and Community Involvement . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25 %

4.) There will be two (2) opportunities to assess the finalists: during the one-on-one interview and during the pageant night itself.

5.) After the first round of judging, the five top finalists will be selected. They will then be asked to express her opinions, thoughts and on a question/issue and the quality of her response, her composure and overall impression as she responds will be the basis for the final selection by the Board of Judges. The following awards will be given:

    1. Miss Cebu 2012
    2. First Runner-up
    3. Second Runner-up
    4. Third Runner-up
    5. Fourth Runner-up

6.) In cases of a tie on the final results, the judges shall come together to re-deliberate the results to break the tie. The judges shall conscientiously write their final choice on a separate sheet, which will be provided by the SGV, and authorize the result with their signatures.

7.) Should there be any mathematical errors in the judges' calculation; the tabulator's (SGV) computation shall prevail.

    Guidelines for Judging

A.) Miss Friendship by Waterfront – pre-selected by the candidates themselves. The award reflects the respect and admiration of the candidate's peers, who vote for the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant.

Note: 1 nominee from each candidate. In case of a tie, tie-breaker is The General Manager of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel

    B.)
    1. 20 % - to be chosen by Ngenius representative
      1. Mr. Wilson & Melanie Ng
    2. 30 % - to be chosen by Miss Cebu 2012 Official Photographers
      1. 10% - Mark Anthony Damaolao
      2. 10% - Dan Douglas Ong
      3. 10% - Joseph Ong

The award is given to the finalist with the greatest ability to project her own personality and positive self-image most effectively through photographs provided in the judges' folio. Judges are urged to look for an expression of the finalist' strength of character and personality as reflected strongly in photographs in a wholesome appearance. Scores will be based on how well a contestant's appearance in the print or film media may compare to her "live-and-in-person" appearance.

    C.) Best Evening Gown . . . . . . . . . . . . Scoring - 100 is the highest score

D.) Best Designer Award/Marco Polo Image Award by Marco Polo
